I have taught and practised Wado Ryu Karate since my teens and I'm now 55. I have previously run my own traditional karate club and taught private community groups. Through the years I myself continue to learn and train and teach privately online and love it!

Why Flow Karate?

My daughter (also a Black belt) and I, like so many during lockdown, were meeting via Zoom or Zoho Meeting to do our own training sessions. These actually worked really, really well and especially during the winter with limited space it made us work harder to contain the karate moves.

The imposed isolation made us look at Bunkai (where moves are applied for defense ) and combinations, and we used the Kata flow of karate in itself as a valid method to stay fit and practise easy to apply self defence yet still do the traditional karate we have learnt.

With that in mind I realised this provides an excellent approach to teaching students that may not want to, or cannot attend a Traditional Dojo Lesson but would prefer to benefit from a more gentle pace of practise (similar to e.g. some Tai Chi) be it for improved agility, balance increased strength or just part of a structured method of exercise that can be practised for short periods e.g. 20 minutes a day and build into a lifelong set of tools that you can practise just for your wellbeing!

It includes the Art of Karate in the performance of Kata but still has at its core valid moves for practical self defence. So I developed the Flow Karate program aimed at Adults.
